Virtual co-working leverages a psychological phenomenon called body doubling. By working silently alongside another person who is also focused on their goal, your brain’s resistance to starting and maintaining focus drops significantly.
In Focus Mode, you share a quick, friendly greeting, set your specific study goals in your personal interactive digital notebook, and work silently with your cameras on. Sharing your goal creates commitment, and working together builds community.

1. Dual Pomodoro Intervals (20m & 50m Sessions)
Choose the session length that matches your energy levels.
- 20-Minute Focus Blocks: Ideal for fast vocabulary reviews, reading flashcards, or practicing daily pronunciation drills.
- 50-Minute Deep Work Blocks: Perfect for advanced grammatical reviews, reading articles, writing essays, or completing mock exams. Our system only pairs you with partners who selected the exact same duration.
2. High-Resolution 15-Minute Scheduling
Say goodbye to rigid hourly planning. You can now book coworking slots in high-resolution 15-minute intervals (:00, :15, :30, :45 past the hour) between 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM. Our smart scheduler automatically hides past empty slots to keep your view perfectly clean while keeping your current bookings active.
3. Background Match Polling (No Page Reloads)
No need to sit and hit refresh on your browser! Focus Mode features a background matching engine that checks for available partners every 30 seconds. The moment a matching partner schedules a slot with you, their name and Clerk profile avatar light up instantly on your dashboard with a glowing Join Session Room button.
4. Instant Connection-Triggered Timers
Timers start automatically the moment you both enter! The coworking session room listens to WebRTC connection events (both participant-joined and joined-meeting). The second both partners are connected, the countdown timer syncs and starts running from the exact current local time—preventing any elapsed slots or mismatched counters.
5. Smart Layout & Coworker Disconnection Toasts
If a coworker leaves the session early, your coworking workspace reacts dynamically. You will receive a premium, slide-down glassmorphic “Partner has left the room” toast notification, and your video feed will instantly expand to fill 100% of the screen so you can complete your session in solo deep focus.
6. Ironclad Privacy: Automatic Timer-Zero Termination 🔒
Your privacy is our priority. The exact second the countdown timer hits 00:00:
- WebRTC Severance: The native PeerJS live audio/video connection immediately severs and terminates.
- Hardware Shutoff: The camera stream tracks are stopped at the browser level (
track.stop()), instantly turning off your hardware webcam lights. - Celebration Screen: You are presented with a gorgeous celebration card detailing your earned stats and a button to save your progress.
